this piece has an interesting genesis, originally, I had tried to "overdub" the previous piece, with two different takes, one made with a looped reverse sound, the other made from the "rises" library - but I felt the resulting piece was just too "busy" - not ambient enough - so I produced the original track as "time waits for no woman" - the previous track.

but - what to do with the two perfectly good overdubs? make another track out of them, of course. so I took the two tracks, and arranged and balanced them, and created "timeless" - so it's a bass part and a melodic part, with no rhythms or other chordal material (which of course was originally provided by "time waits for no woman").

much sparser, the two overdubs made a lovely sequel, and so "timeless" was born. I absolutely love the sounds that rev makes, but these two ambient pieces only hint gently at what it is truly capable of...

4) timed instruments

within each type, there are then categories of different patches.

in many cases, there is also an additional "effect" attached to each patch. instruments have their effects built into one or both of their "layers".
