the next in the "music for pcs" series, features a new software company, known as "output", who have produced, to date, exactly two software titles: "rev" and "signal". these are both absolutely outstanding applications, and I've been recording with "rev" for a while now, it features all reversed sounds, which is brilliant as a concept, and works even better in practice. but even more "hot off the press" is "signal", output's second and latest title, which I sat down today with for the first time, and created the first two pieces you will hear on the album.
I'm glad that "signal" came along, because that gave me an extra impetus to actually get the "music for pcs: output - an eternal album" started - and I was very excited to get such good results with signal right off the mark.
of course, I will be working with both software packages as time permits, but I wanted to get started right away, so making "output" be the topic of the next eternal album, made a lot of sense to me - this is the right time for "music for pcs: output" to appear, and I will be adding more tracks from signal, along with tracks from rev, as they appear - as always.
"signal" is built around pulses, it has two powerful pulse engines, and also features 500 presets that are truly remarkable, just playing through some of the presets is enough to get a truly good feel for what it can do, and rev also features a large batch of fantastic presets - so really, you can play either one right out of the box without issues, and then, as time permits, get into the "behind the scenes" features, and do some proper tweaking - I generally always start with the presets, and then, when I find the ones I like the best, I begin to modify those, and pretty soon, you find you have a lot of really beautiful user patches.
I really fell in love with the sound of rev, and after using it for a couple of months, to have another very capable software package arrive from output was truly exciting, and once I'd heard rev - I had to have it - and the same for signal, once I heard signal - I had to have it. as time goes on, and I am able to upload a number of tracks featuring both of these outstanding musical tools, you will easily begin to know why I say that - they both are quite exquisite, each in their own special way.
and now to the music!

technical note: approximately four seconds (or more) of silence has been added to the end of each recording, to allow for any running order that you, the customer, desires (since this is a completely user-configurable album); this added silence in no way affects the quality of the tunes.
it's also advised that this music be listened to through headphones to experience the full stereo effect - we feel that the tracks are best experienced via headphones; in stereo - if this isn't possible, then the best available stereo speakers will have to suffice.
finally - thank you for listening!
