about
“providence suite - movement no. 6 - perfection"
it was always the intention, again, to create variations of the tunes, using the various “extra” sounds recorded during the session, or in some cases, added in during the assembly, mixing and mastering – I should stress that no new performances were created, all of the actual music was recorded either on march 4th or march 24th 2012 – but, additional voices were selected and added, to create musical variations during the assembly and mixing of the tracks.
I’ll start by saying that “movement no. 6 – perfection” shares the musical DNA of “movement no. 4 – atonement” – exactly, to the note. but as with earlier parts of the suite, this is a re-imagined version of that piece, now using four different mellotron voices (instead of “just” “ebow ensemble” as “atonement” is). those instruments are:
so, nary a piano in sight, I simply created variations as I’d done previously on movements two and three; the same process, so varying combinations – solo choir, solo strings, all four, three of the four, or perhaps just “ebow ensemble” and strings etc. – whatever seemed appropriate at the time.
as before, you can “tell” where the takes begin and end, if you listen hard – each time the instrumentation changes, the take has just incremented by one – so take one might be choir only, then take two is ebow ensemble and strings, etc. it’s interesting to compare and contrast these variations with the “all ebow ensemble” version that is “movement no. 4 – atonement”.
