using the same wonky electric bass that powered “not daft at all”, this lazy, summery piece of music, written at the height of british summer, 2013, has a wonderful, almost reverse feel, which is partially due to the wonderful harmonium sample, but also, the alternating solos and duets between the “hi guitar” and the “flute”, simple, understated, over the strange, plodding rhythm bed, suddenly give way to a much faster section, which features some very odd harmonium solos, with strange, strangled, crashing distorted guitar chords in the background…which plays out to a sudden, unexpected ending, almost mid-phrase, that gives the listener pause.
I do find that I tend to use the flute as a melodic device from time to time, and it works particularly well when paired with this “hi guitar”. I love the summery feel of this piece, and the childhood memory of going barefoot all summer long…until your feet were indeed, black.
