about
from zero to hero
track: 10
recorded: 20150901
duration: 1:51
type: active
another very different piece, that also takes advantage of the korg iM1 synth, which is now available within gadget for ease of enjoyment - and I really very much enjoyed constructing "from zero to hero" using M1 drums and soft electric piano and so on - and this piece, really, really did not go where I expected it would go - I thought that when the drums come in, that something very...different was going to happen.
Instead, a different beautiful string sound, a sort of tape strings sound, again, courtesy of the remarkable iM1 synthesizer, appears and duets with the original strings, and we get a sort of dual-mellotronish led piece with a lovely jazzy electric piano during the first half.
the song definitely goes somewhere else in the second half, and I love the strange twists and turns that it goes on - and yet, it still manages to visit all the places it needs to get to, in under 2:00 - I love little pieces like this - it's just enough, not too much - and this is just the way it turned out...
created using sounds from the new iM1 synth, as well as a couple of existing synths, there were originally six tracks, three to four tracks covering the first half (roughly) while three tracks cover the second half (roughly). I didn't treat or effect it in any way with two exceptions: I used the available Gadget Reverb on individual tracks, and, in SONAR, when assembling the track, I added a nice compressor to the drums to make them a bit more punchy, and a bit more realistic - Gadget's available drum kits are possibly it's only weak spot - but, it's sounding better all the time, and now, we have the addition at least, of some kits in the iM1 - so eventually, there will be really excellent drum sounds available - currently - the drums available, do NOT rival the quality of all of the sounds made available through Korg Module - those sounds are all far superior - and they are now joined by a real classic, the M1 - so the choice of sounds is absolutely mind-boggling now - I can see myself working with Gadget a LOT more in the future - it has matured far more quickly than many other iOS applications - it's a real beauty now!
