back to the trademark dave stafford synth-driven instrumental, I really love the quiet, smooth beginning of this song, with it's bubbling synthesizer arpeggio, and lovely synth melodies, played over a very sharp and very carefully constructed drum track - I really enjoyed setting up and executing this drum track.
this is one of those tunes that just happens - it all goes almost too quickly, and before you know it, you have constructed the whole drum track, and laid out the main instrumental ideas - and then it's just time you need to add in the rest of the samples and complete the idea.
but for me, as it always is, it's the strangely and surprisingly good loops that make the song work, good samples of good instruments playing good things. most of this track is made up of apple loops, the drums, the synth basses, the pads / keyboards / backing chords and riffs, and the main synth melodies - almost all of those are apple loops, simply strung together in a hopefully, unique and interesting way.
the standout here is probably the drummer, who seems to be trying to light the song on fire throughout, and occasionally, he succeeds, and it all becomes so worth it - it just rocks. but I do like the fact that the song "stops" and returns to it's slow, swooshy-synth intro, which gives the drummer the chance to make a second entrance, which is just as dynamic as the initial one - I do like this drum track! I think as a whole, this track has a certain "mood" to it, which I can't quite describe in words - I am not quite sure what that "mood" is - but, I like it.
