about

more time travelling, now alll the way forward to 1997, for an unusual vocal piece - I had a really nice drum and bass track from my friend and musical partner bryan helm, that I really liked, and I asked his permission to use the track as the rhythmic basis for a new solo piece - and he graciously allowed me to use the piece in the construction of "waiting for the moment".

I worked very quickly, making up the lyrics during just one or two run throughs, recording as I went, until I had a vocal part that I was happy with - and then I came back and added the energy bow guitar parts to flesh out the piece.

this was sort of a strange eno or bill nelson inspired piece, not really sure - probably it owes more to bill nelson if anything, but I also think that it represents my ebow style pretty well - but more in the "lead" ebow style rather than the more ambient style that I usually embrace. I'm using the ebow as a lead guitar, something I do a lot of, but not usually in the recordings I release - more for fun.

some lovely ebow solos, and some nice long, notes...I loved recording this piece, and I am proud of it - I think it came out very well given that I assembled the whole thing very quickly - in a matter of hours.

lyrics

flippiin' through the pages, on a sunday afternoon
flickin' through the tv, in the corner of my room
walking down the high street, thinking with my brain
no matter how I entreat...still falls the rain

still falls the rain

flippin' through the pages...flippin' through the pages
on a sunday afternoon
flickin' through the tv, in the corner of my room

flippin...flipping through the pages...yeah

images all jumbled here inside my head
looking at this cyber world, through shades of rosy red
standing at the station, in the pouring rain
a cybernetic nation....here comes my train

flippiin' through the pages, on a sunday afternoon
flickin' through the tv, in the corner of my room
walking down the high street, thinking with my brain
no matter how I entreat...still falls the rain

images all jumbled... images all jumbled... images all jumbled...
here inside my head
looking at this cyber world, through shades of rosy red

standing at the station...

standing... at the station...

in the pouring rain
a cybernetic nation...here comes my train

think it's time to go now
but I can't remember where

waiting for the moment...

waiting for the moment...

waiting for the moment...

waiting for the moment.
