uncertain journey

now this was things got very, very interesting - just to see if I could do it, I did a five minute take, where I dialled up different presets, played for a while - maybe a few seconds, maybe, quite some time, just to see what kind of range of interesting sounds I could come up with.
I do not feel disappointed in any way, some of the voices are quite...odd, but in an intentional pastiche like this (maybe that should have been the title, I don't know!) it's to be expected, and I love the contrast from each sound to the next, and some of the very short connecting pieces are absolutely obscure and fascinating to listen to.
some great stereo presets, too, where the developers have got two completely separate patches, one stereo left, the other stereo right, but, they work together in a wonderful harmonious discord that's a joy to listen to - and some of the other presets, the ones I did not use in this piece - are absolutely out of this world.
so while most of these pieces are a study of one particular sound that the iVCS3 produces, this take was truly just for fun, and instead of working on the development of a single voicing, I just "played" and let the synth do all the work.
and of course, pure chance, the piece ends on a short section of dissonance, which dissolves to a droning buzz - and then, this musical journey is over.

technical note: while this is essentially a live performance, it is not noted as one, due to the fact of some very small, but musically necessary, edits that were made to the piece during the mastering process - but the integrity of the live performance was not affected in any way, and hopefully, we've presented the most musically pleasing version of this live improv that we possibly can.
