about
this is what “third tone from the sun” sounds like sans guitars and ebows. even though it was always intended to have the guitars added, I liked this “backing track” so much, and I think it stands up entirely well by itself, that I decided that to be fair, I should present it as it was before the guitars arrived – plus, it gives you the added benefit of being able to hear the instrumentation better, hear the drum parts and all the various nuances I tried to impart into this tune, I love the middle eight with the deep, thick descending bass, that then gloriously ascends at the end, before tumbling back down to that low, low root note.

I worked very, very hard on this piece, I spent a couple of days just working out the drum part, which is one of my most-accomplished and complex yet, a day to get the synth bass just right, and then several days of synthesizer practice and performance, until I had the solos I wanted, sounding the way they should – and this piece is also necessary because it really shows you just how beautiful the synths in nanostudio are, the eden synth is awesome, and this track shows it off to best advantage. It also showcases the drum sampling capability of nanostudio, again, it allowed me to create a very driving drum kit sound that sounds very realistic and I had a great time tweaking the various drums, adding in double-kicked bass drums near the end, and so on – a blast.
I feel that “third tone from the sun” is a strong piece in either guise – guitars and ebow version takes you to a certain place, while this synth mix takes you to a very different, but no less valuable, place – and the synth sounds and nuances that eden synth is capable of – it’s just such a great tool, nanostudio rules!
