“the summer of george” is in the main, a celebration of the genmix3 pak, which contains a lot of truly great sounds, but the genesis of the song can actually be found in the last piece – I’ve actually re-used two of my favourite ambient elements here, “delay line soft lead” and “delay line lead” from – you guessed it – “delay line”.

I took those two elements, and built up “the summer of george” around them – and of course, their role in “the summer of george” is to provide ambient atmosphere on top of an active track, and they do that beautifully.

as far as the active parts of the song, a very lovely and constant drum beat from one of the “ambient” banks is then framed around with some really nice windverbs, the aforementioned delay lines, and various other glitterous objects of music. I wanted a completely different piece to delay line, that just happens to contain the delay line elements, and I think the constant drumbeat along with the wonderful “ambient ghost” and “ems saw windverb dark wt dark dangers” add a lot with their occasional yet wonderful different sounds of the wind.

a stormy season indeed during the “summer of george” – the reference to seinfeld is hopefully obvious – but if not, well, “it was supposed to be the summer of george…”
