rickenbacker bass - abbey road drums 1960s - run into town - run 1
scarbee rickenbacker bass
abbey road drums 1960s
type: bass and drums rhythm track featuring the remarkable Scarbee Rickenbacker Bass Instrument for Kontakt
even though this first version of "run into town" was recorded at the end of february, 2014, it's only now, at the end of march, 2014 that it, and it's successor, are finally seeing the light of day.
the reasons for this are not complex, I had not organised my thinking as to what I was going to do with this hard-won bass and drum track, and during the course of march, this became much clearer.
I decided on a minimum of three different versions (although I am uncertain at this point if the third version will ever get made, due to my ridiculous backlog of music!) and today, I am uploading the first two of those versions.
this one, which I refer to as "run 1", is the basic track, with just the drum track (my first using the remarkable abbey road kit) and my go-to bass, the scarbee rickenbacker - and, I particularly wanted to release this version, because it has no overdubs - I really felt for a long time, that it's quite, quite complete, and compleat, this way.
the plan for the three versions is this: one (this track), present the basic track; two, the next evolution, one new instrument added in - live, improvised solos atop the bass and drum track (the next track) and three, a fully "constructed" studio using carefully crafted guitar rig-created sections of regular and ebow electric guitars. as I mentioned, I have not had time to address version three, so I have decided to upload versions 1 and 2 so we can at least hear this track that I keep talking about!
so I give you, "run into town - run 1" featuring that wonderful scarbee bass, showing off two distinct rickenbacker tones, and, playing beautifully against the drums. I cannot get enough of those bass sounds!
absolutely no reverb, EQ, effects or treatments of any kind were used in the mastering of the piece - this is the pure sound of the Rickenbacker Bass sampled instrument atop the pure sound of the 1960s drum kit sampled in Abbey Road No. 2 studios in London, UK.
