clearly an (accidental, of course!) homage to xtcs brilliant “procession towards learning land”, the minimal beginning and end are bookends to an almost uncannily-similar sounding centre section, that almost by accident resembles xtc’s quasi-ambient masterpiece from the “homo safari” series. and how on earth, with no planning, did I manage to get two songs in a row to sound like, first, an active, early xtc piece, and secondly, vaguely like an ambient xtc piece? answer: no idea.

before I forget to mention dept.: I love the use of the english horn here, and I feel that it bears an uncanny resemblance to the “horns” patch on certain mellotrons – it really sounds like a vintage mellotron horn to me, so it just sounds great in any sequence I use it in = happy coincidence.
