day three of my mixtikl experience dawns, and I have started yet another reasonably sophisticated ambient piece, “pulsating” in the first of many versions, uses a very carefully chosen set of droney voices, five from the m7 bank and four from the m0 bank – nine elements this time, instead of eight, plus four other voices arranged in a linear path as well (see above for the shape used – well, imagine the last four in a straight line!)…

so, an even more complex set of elements, and behind the scenes, carefully placed effects (usually, one effect per element) – choruses, flangers, reverbs – and then a lot of careful level setting and mixing…

and the result of all this work, is a very upbeat ambient piece, one that you can just put on and forget about, and it will endlessly pulse and shape, move, grow, recede, return, endlessly drifting along it’s single chord plane – another really successful generative piece, and one of my favourite early pieces.
