hi-hats, cymbals, delay lines, ambient vox, and a lonely bass drum – this odd, minimalist piece is perhaps most similar to my earlier piece “the pagan gods return” if only because it shares a vocal sample with it. beyond that, it bears little resemblance to that early piece – this one is about a very constant, constant drum beat, with seven voices arranged strategically around it; while delay lines, soft ambient piano and soft delay lines provide additional supporting melodic content. this one is uncategorisable; it’s not jazz, it’s not rock, it’s not pop, it’s not ambient – it just is – “one year later”.

this piece will grow on your though, unsuspectingly, you will hear it in your head long after it’s been shut off – something about those wonderful, high pitched, eerie vocals that really sticks in the brain – or at least, it does for me. this was a lot of fun to build, and again, the credit must go to mixtikl itself for this arrangement – I just push the button, mixtikl does all the work…
