about
...like the end of the world
track: 02
recorded: 20140410
duration: 4:47
this is a live performance, and this is a direct digital copy of the original piece, no editing, overdubs, or treatments of any kind were applied to the track - this is how it happened.
the piece originally had a different title, which I have forgotten now, but on a later playback, it suddenly struck me that this track "actually, it sounds like the end of the world" so again, a drone, but this time, a much more terrifying one, and, the rhythmic strokes introduced on top of that drone, only add to the sinister feeling of disquiet.
one could almost imagine emerging from an underground bunker after an alien invasion had laid the earth to waste, and this was what you heard when you emerged, the "flick flick flick" sounds would be the aliens themselves, going about their business, the background drone, signifying a destroyed and disturbed landscape.
the iVCS3 is an absolute triumph of application design, and I have rarely seen a synth that emulates a real synth, come so close to that original design as this one does - right down to some downright quirks. this second piece really made me feel that I was onto something, and I was then gaining confidence that the iVCS3 may become my drone / ambient secret weapon, because the incredibly lifelike sounds really stimulate the imagination, sometimes, in a lot of very unexpected ways.
