about

this track is absolutely inspired by the music of king crimson, in particular, by a track from the 1973 live amsterdam show which is mis-titled on the bootleg versions as "the mincer" - it's correct title, according to the official release ("the night watch" on DGM), is "the fright watch" - which begins with an ominous percussion sound, and develops into a wonderful mellotron-laced improv. my piece is of course, nothing like the crimson piece, but as an homage, it gets the idea across. having no mellotron available, I actually went to the trouble of downloading samples of mellotron notes, then, constructed "chords out of the notes - strings, flutes, and choirs - and then "played" them during the piece as required - a LOT of work just to hear a few real mellotron chords - but, that's what was needed - that's what I did. I am very proud of "improv = mincer" it's short, sweet and to the point - and, it's probably the first piece of prog I ever recorded - well, the second, perhaps - I suppose "annunciation = day" and "day = twilight" are also prog.
