improv: from chaos: order? - borderlands - live 20160124

live performance session for video

track: 05

session date: 20160124

take: 1 duration: 8:30

description: live performance - ambient music application "borderlands" - ipad / ios

because of the nature of music for visual, where it is music recorded specifically for video, there will as a matter of course, be a huge diversity of material on this channel. already, we've jumped from live guitar synth performances in 2011, to four new tracks made with an ambient application called "borderlands" in 2016 !

we will continue to bounce back and forth, as new music is recorded for new videos, we will try to include it here, including additional out takes or tracks that do not actually end up having a video made - if we can, we will present the entire session - as we've done here - four tracks were recorded, and filmed, and these are those four tracks.

the second improv from the session, stretches out more time-wise, and is a bit more developed and diverse than the opening piece. I think as the session went on, I was gaining more confidence with the app, and as I went along, I felt I was gaining more control of what music appeared as I played.

as I mentioned elsewhere, the "borderlands" interface is truly unique, and it's an absolute joy to play. I love the juxtaposition, too, between the more musical samples, and the voices which suddenly appear as if from nowhere - it can be somewhat alarming, but that's part of it's charm - things happen that you don't really expect, and music appears of it's own volition...and that's always a good thing.
