eventual recognition

track: 28

recorded: 20170410 - 20170425

duration: 9:20

type: active

and now for something completely different - one of the funkiest, jazziest pieces of constructed garage band music I have created so far - and funk, and jazz, are not my areas of expertise. unfortunately, garage band does not cater to the progressive rock musician, nor really does it cater to the ambient musician - so that is two problems for me.

however, I work with what I have, and, despite the jazzy sound or extreme funkiness of some of the guitar samples, I at least have managed to construct something that sounds like a real guitar-based song - which is no mean accomplishment given that guitar samples are in the minority in general, so my choice was limited - and that was really the cause of the unintentional jazz-tinged genre that this song inhabits.

I don't really mind, and strangely enough, by using my new patented "turn them all on" method of mixing, this otherwise kinda funky tune, gains an extended outro worthy of a band more like the Grateful Dead or the Allman Brothers, than a Dave Stafford guitar construction. ultimately though, that's what this is, and I do actually like the riffs, I have gotten used to them, and I think because I do have a fair amount of actual experience as a guitarist, that that experience helped me when it comes to "arranging" the guitar tracks.

as is often the case, I did "play" the Paul McCartney bass on this track, I felt that it needed a real bass track so I took the extra time to create a unique and very real bass part, which I think really adds to the sound, and it gives the looped/sampled guitars a bit more credibility - at least, I tell myself, the bass is real.

The bass part is real. What more need I say?
