so now, with one full day of mixtikl experience now behind me, I embark on my third piece ever, carefully choosing a set of eight voices, many including bell like sounds, and then carefully mixing them so that the end result is mysterious, ever-evolving, dark and mostly ambient.
again, the build quality of this tool makes it so that even a novice such as myself, can get good results easily enough – I did spend a lot of time on this piece, but mostly, just adjusting reverbs and mix levels – until I felt it was resonating just right. I love the way the piece evolves, moving from gently ambient to nearly terrifying dark ambient and then back again – but somehow, maintaining a cohesion, a musical identity that is unique to this set of eight voices, and the levels and effects I chose – those decisions, create music – beautiful, dark, generative music.
it’s a little bit frightening, the bell sounds can sometimes overwhelm, but even when it gets to it’s most creepy, you always know it’s going to eventually return to a really beautiful, background ambience – and that, I can’t get enough of – so, a wonderful, evolving “bellscape” made with the remarkable mixtikl application.
