catapulting through time from 1982 to 1990, "dreamswept sea" was originally a live improv, recorded in between takes during the making of the "throat-wobbler mangrove" album by luxury yacht - bryan helm (of the dozey lumps, bindlestiff), tom freeman (mike keneally, frank zappa) on drums and percussion and myself (the dozey lumps, bindlestiff, the orchestra of crafty guitarists) on electric guitar.

I loved the live piece of music (my guitar solo seemed reminiscent of andy latimer of camel, perhaps) but couldn't figure out what to do with it as it was so short, so I took it back to the studio, and played around with it, inventing a swirling keyboard based introduction, with a short lyric, which I then moulded onto the front of the live improv so that the improv became the "lead solo" and outro of the track.

a strange but somehow satisfying effect - and a rare glimpse of the power and the glory of luxury yacht in full live, improvising flight - messrs. helm, freeman and stafford circa 1990.
