concerto no. 2 in a minor for guitar and oboe - movement no. 2

(note - this same track also appears on the pureambient album SSDL1747 "classical - an eternal album" as track 12)

track: 03

recorded: 20140323 - 20140417

duration: 6:23

type: active

the second movement took a little bit longer to create than the first, the first movement is characterised by my own excitement and the joy of finally being able to score for orchestra - so it happened very quickly, and it was out there and up almost before I knew it.

but, as things tend to always go, themes were rolling around in my brain, and, themes from the first movement do find their way into the second, mostly to ensure a nice musical continuity between the two movements, I did most of the actual scoring fairly quickly, within a couple of days, it was not far away from it's final form that you hear here.

then, the remaining time was spent listening, considering, and listening again, followed by the usual last-minute adjustments - anything that made me truly unhappy, had to go (I don't recall removing anything from this movement, but I may have) and of course, there are minor corrections, little additions, adjustments to volume and similar tweaks.

a few more days of listening, a few days more of distractions, and finally, movement number 2 can join it's predecessor on the notion eternal album.

work on the third and final movement began almost immediately following the completion of the second movement, probably right around the time I started just listening to the basically complete movement no. 2. however, movement no. 3 is already underway, with some really nice new themes, and some lovely modified themes borrowed from the first two movements as well. I only worked on the third movement for a couple of days, but much to my surprise, I've just played it back to refresh my memory - and I am very pleased to report that I've already completed 4:00 of music - so the third movement is well and truly under way.

in the meantime...we hope you will enjoy this next instalment of the concerto, movement no. 2 - and I am really looking forward to going back to work on movement 3, I had to set it aside for a couple of weeks to attend to other matters, but I am now at the point where I should be able to return to it, so I would hope that it will be complete within the next few weeks, and hopefully, uploaded not long afterwards.
