this track is another one from about 1997, featuring another bryan helm backing track - he'd sampled a rather well known band and created a fantastic drum and backing track, that I really wanted to overdub - once again, he very kindly allowed me to use his rhythm track in the construction of this piece.

on the day, I worked very quickly to assemble the lyrics and todd rundgren / peter hammill-inspired vocal, and I did spend quite some time working out different vocal approaches, using both close-mike and distant mike techniques, singing at different volumes, etc., to get the desired effect of the over all vocal. I also experimented with varying levels of reverb to enhance those close- and distant-mike techniques, and I feel that this vocal in particular came out very well.

there are two overdubs: my vocal, and a single ebow guitar melody - and that is the track - and this is very possibly my favourite vocal track of mine from across the catalogue, and a fitting coda for the "song with no end" EP release.
