a return now to one of my very favourite synthesizers, the very ambient-friendly absynth - and, each time I return to work more with absynth, I discover more of the magic - it's a truly gorgeous synth, and some of it's more...complex and considered voices, such as this one - which is filed under the category "soundscapes" - and that, it definitely is - are absolutely and incredibly beautiful.

a huge number of different sonic events are triggered - seemingly, almost, a different one for every key, so depending on where you are on the keyboard, you get some very, very different sounds.

I simply played a fairly simple piece of keyboard music, with chords held, and chord arpeggios - something reasonable, something normal - and out came this amazing sound.

that's the beauty of these late-model synthesizers, once they've been around for a few years, folk start to author incredibly difficult and complex voices for them - and then people like me benefit from that, because I don't have to program it, I just get to "play" it - brilliant, beautiful, and awesome - absynth gets six stars from me.
