SSDL1749 music for apps: tc-11 - an eternal album
release date: 20140217 label: pureambient

hello and welcome to the eternal album, “music for apps: tc-11”, which of course features the incredibly unique touch controlled synthesizer application "tc-11" - which is now (as of september, 2017, that is) available in three "flavours":
1. TC-11 application - original application
2. TC-11 data
3. TC-11 performer
when I first realised what this app did, I couldn't quite believe it - eschewing all standard input methods; no keys, no strings - it's sounds are all triggered by the touch of the player's hands and fingers - and, the complexity and beauty of the synth sounds is absolutely top notch.
learning to "play" the tc-11 is a bit challenging, but after a short while, you get to know what the best motions are for any given preset. and there is a lot of scope for customisation: you can create your own presets, and the amount of control you have over sound parameters, I would call "complete".
you can go deep, but even the presets sound fantastic, right out of the box - and as far as bang for your buck - it's an incredibly fun app to play with, very physical, and you learn new techniques for getting good sounds out of touch-controlled synths.
I've never played anything like it, in terms of the experience of making music with it, the only thing similar in my experience is the kaossilator, which you play one finger generally - but tc-11 takes full advantage of the larger screen of the ipad, and you can easily utilise both hands to play and perform using the app.
I love this app, it's fast becoming one of my favourites. The first uploads were maybe, a bit tentative, I am finding my feet, later on, we will get into tc-11 duets, where I play two ipads, one with each hand. that should be interesting...
but we will start out simple, with live, one ipad, two hands configuration, and then we will see what the future holds...
the tc-11 is absolutely unique, and I look forward to many years of working with it, it is unlike any other app that I have, and it's design is excellent, sensible, compact, economical, but it's sounds are big, expansive, exciting, there are some astonishing arpeggiators built into some of the sounds, and some of the preset patches are so beautiful they will make you want to weep.
for me - this is a must-have application, which I will use with joy as time goes on - it's so incredibly much fun!

dave stafford: tc-11 application, treatments
all tracks composed, arranged, engineered, recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by dave stafford for pureambient records.
all instruments and sounds by dave stafford.
technical note: approximately four seconds (or more) of silence has been added to the end of each recording, to allow for any running order that you, the customer, desires (since this is a completely user-configurable album); this added silence in no way affects the quality of the tunes.
it's also advised that this music be listened to through headphones to experience the full stereo effect - we feel that the tracks are best experienced via headphones; in stereo - if this isn't possible, then the best available stereo speakers will have to suffice.
finally - thank you for listening!
